Introduction

The idea I have for my short film is a horror. It will be about a 

Research

As my primary research I sent a  survey to 10 people to see what their favorite genre was and what they like which is include in that genre . This helped me figure out my short film since I can understand everyone's feelings towards a good film.

When I collected all the primary research from my survey, I discovered that 40% of peoples favorite genre was horror, 20% was romance and 10% was comedy, romance and sci-go.

This helped ne pick the genre of my short film which was done by the most popular genre chosen. Then next question I asked is if people like to predict endings to see if people would like to know of a story head of time. 60% of people said yes, 10% said no and 30% said sometimes, These statics have helped me create an idea for my ending of my short film. 

The next question was if you like morals in your story. I thought about asking this questions because it can help people remember the film after its finished. 40% of people said yes and maybe and 20% was no. This made me come to the conclusion that is should add a moral since 

I ask how long a short film should be. I asked this question so I know how long the film showed be ,how long i should record a scene for and the pasing of the movie . 40% of people said 10-15 minutes, 20% said 5-10 minutes and 20-25 minutes and 10% 1-5 minutes and 15-20 minutes This makes me come to the conclusion that my film should be 10-15 minutes

 

This question was about if I should get a male or female protagonist. I asked this question because it helps me find a main character for my film. 60% of people picked a female protagonist while the other 40% chose male. This will help me find a good main character for my film .

 I asked about people expect lighting and sound  for their favorite genre.  decided to ask this question because it can help me create the right scenery for the chosen genre. for each question there was a mixture of answer such as for lightning some people said dark or referenced a dark color since their favorite genre is horror. For music everyone chose different types of music such a church music, but for horror there was answers such as metal and suspenseful which can both be added since they both are able to bring the effect of horror in the right scene.

This question I asked here was should the film be based on earth. 

In this question I asked if the film should be from a villain's pov or a hero's pov. I asked this because not a lot of films come from the villain's pov so they might be an intriguing change. 

short film analysis

Narrative -  I watched the short film Abracitos, which was about two sisters who got a phone call in the middle of the night, when an unknown being suddenly appears. The structure of this short films does not give us any background details on what has happened but hints the fact that Abracitos might have died. Conflicted is identified when the little sister says there is a woman who keeps smiling behind the older sister. This creates conflict since the audience wont know what happens next and are not able to see the women.

Characters - The characters spoke Spanish and their voices where shaking which shows they are petrified of whatever being is their haunt them.  

Mise-en-scene - The location for in the short film is a Childs bedroom. In the first scene it starts off in a tent with a prop phone, which can be shown that they are communicating with a darker world or being.  The characters costumes were very basic, which could show how a normal family had something tragic to them out of the blue

Cinematography- The camerawork used was mostly mid shots since you can see the fear in the persons. face and body by them trembling. But at the beginning their was a close up on the little girls face to show she was crying. At the end there is a wide shot to show what the demon looked like while it ran away. 

Editing - The pace of the film is good since they were able to add a the right details in the short film to know what is going on. There was a transition at the beginning, from the curtains to the younger sister who had fear on her face which can help build suspense for what's to come.   

Sound - There is diegetic sounds such as ambient sound which was shown when the two sisters are talking and you hear foot steps in the back.

Conclusion - This script has helped me realize that details of the story don't need to be told straight away and people can find out more when the film goes on which makes the audience more intrigued. I would remove that I wont added transition since when added it makes the short film seem more mysterious.

secondary research  

Since my film genre is horror I decide to check when its starts to get dark which is at 16:15 in London according to apples weather app. This will help me know when to start filming for when I want a night scene.
